Donna C. Stewart is a representational painter, who has an impressionistic style and focused on landscapes. She works primarily in soft pastels and oils from her home studio on the western shore of the Saugeen Bruce Peninsula on Lake Huron. She lives in the small lakeside cottage community of Oliphant, ON just 13 km north of Sauble Beach, Ontario in the traditional territory of the Saugeen Objiway Nation. She frequently paints from observation, finding plein air painting to be one of the most satisfying outdoor experiences she’s had. Many of the places she paints on the land and the shores of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay are places she has enjoyed through hiking, paddling, boating, cycling, kitesurfing and cross-country skiing here over the years. As is the case with her previously published fiction for children and adults, her paintings depict the things she has experience and noticed when immersed in the outdoors with her family and friends.
